Simple, Enjoyable Mother's Day 2012

Mother's Day - a day honoring mothers, their dedication, sacrifice and love. Another day on the calendar to encourage family get-togethers and interactions. Another day for businesses to cash in, for the economy to turn. Oh, I contributed generously to the economy on this day for sure!

The long and short of it, I'm sure are in abundance all over the web.

I just want to share small highlights of my day - and the cute boxers I bought!

Mothers Day 2012, started out like any other lazy Sunday. It was such a special day  I sacrificed golf to stay in. Unbelievable! Took the family out for a simple but tasty lunch.

On pain of death, my boys 'willingly' accompanied me out shopping.

Felt thoroughly upbeat and indulgent. Even promised the boys we'd try Garrett's - the most overpriced popcorn on this side of the hemisphere! Waltzed into Candylicious, a store for those with a sweet-tooth and where Garrett's is housed. Ended up buying the Chicago mix - a combination of Cheese and Caramel. Thoroughly over-rated.

There's Garrett's!

Lovely candy tree

The boys just had to have some too!

The day & the lively, cool atmosphere led to... hahaha, kinky knickers for the boys! (Much to the delight of one and the chagrin of the other..)

Aren't these cute?
We then went home and had a small modelling session which naturally, is rated "X" so cannot be posted  :D

My old man came home from golf to join us for dinner. The day ended with a good dose of Dave's Deli. Couldn't ask for a better Mother's Day...

Soothsaying & Me

The human psychology is fascinating.

Take for example, a general consultation with a fortune teller. Simple instructions are carried out dedicatedly in the hope that things change for the better. For me, it was a change in the Chinese strokes for my name, Jade. Being unable to retain good friends who evaporate after a time by moving far, far away or becoming estranged due to different interests, the name change was to harness social harmony into my life.

The task - rewrite my name a thousand times. A thousand times! For the regular Chinese name, that would mean 3 characters x 1000 each… And, no cheating by “copy, paste” method on the PC. Good old fashioned ink on paper. A THOUSAND times! Oh, such an arduous task. Having kept to myself for so long, would I welcome spots of social chit chat and get togethers? What do you think?

Having reached the 720th milestone, I feel a sense of achievement. Although it has been some 1 year plus of a little practice, lots of procrastination, a little more writing and more procrastination, I look around in expectation… Honestly, what was I expecting? Maybe a small miracle. Has this happened? In a small way, yes! Not too daunting for a person who’s learning to come out again. Will the new social affections blossom into pillars of friendship? Perhaps the 1000th and final mark of rewriting my name would be the seal that cements this foretelling. Amen!

All in all, a wise person is indeed a discerning one. Having presented the psyche of her wisdom, the fortune teller has ensured that a lesson is learnt… a thousand times. Yes indeed, practice makes perfect!
